Belvidere FFA News

This past week has been quite a memorable one for the Belvidere FFA Chapter! On Tuesday, our Ag Mechanics Class presented Chief Tyler Herb of the Belvidere Ambulance Corps, Inc. with a donated generator that the students refurbished to help the squad operate during storms, or other situations where their building may be without power.

On Wednesday and Thursday, our Dairy Cattle Evaluation and Management Team (comprised of Carolyn Bilyk, Andrew Duckworth, Olivia Franceschino, and Ashley Postma) competed at the 96th Annual National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, where they received a Bronze Emblem overall. The team also enjoyed the opportunity to attend two General Sessions, the Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo, a Hypnotist Show, and a trip to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during their trip.

On Friday, Mr. Carrubba, Superintendent of the Belvidere School District, received his Honorary American FFA Degree during the Fourth General Session of National FFA Convention at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Honorary American FFA Degree is reserved for individuals who have provided exceptional service on a national level to agriculture, agricultural education, or to the FFA.
